We met at a Linkin Park Concert on March 8th, 2008 at the E Center in West Valley City, UT.
Lane: On March 7th, I got a call from the owner of the company I worked for asking me if I would like to attend the Linkin Park concert the next day with the rest of the office. I had only worked there for a few days when he invited me, but I thought what the heck.
Jason: Actually, the real reason the owner was inviting you was to set you up with me. He told me he had this new receptionist who he thought would be perfect for me to meet.
Lane: I was going off what he had said on the phone, that the whole office was going and had no idea it was a setup basically, but I was so nervous, like insanely nervous.
Jason: So why were you nervous?
Lane: I was nervous because it was my third day, I didn’t know anybody, and there wasn’t a real explanation except everybody was going to meet at such and such time and he lived at such and such place and he’d see me tomorrow. That was pretty much it. I picked out my outfit that night. It took me so long to decide and I freaked out. I actually went in and told my mom.
Jason: We went to the concert and talked a little, but didn’t have a chance to exchange numbers or get to know each other really well.
Lane: On April 4th, 2008, my boss was out of town and she had me using her computer. Her computer was logged in to her Instant Messenger. I think I was switching it to my login and I saw your name on there.
Jason: I went into the office a few days after the concert to see if you were in there, but you weren’t.
Lane: I kept hoping you would come into the office and you never did. I was so excited when I saw your name on the IM. I debated for a minute or two whether to say anything at all, but it was kind of a do-or-die moment, so I just said something. Then ran away from my chair, because I was so nervous. I then ran back, because I was so excited to see what you would reply.
Jason: I was so excited to see you message me…a little confused at first to see your boss IMing me, but you quickly said who you were.
Lane: It pretty much went from there, ’cause that’s how we met.
Jason: Yep.
