I moved to Austin last year to pursue a music career. I thought that it would be easy to line up gigs in a town dubbed the “Live Music Capital of the World”, but competition was fierce. I consider myself a talented musician, but it took me some time to get into the local scene and get to know people. In order to make a living while I was selling myself, I picked up some freelance writing work on the side. I got myself connected to clear wireless Austin so that I could work from anywhere in town and keep in touch with my clients. I didn’t make a ton of money, but the work I did kept me fed, housed, and clothed. It was nice that I didn’t have to get a different job, which would have been less flexible. I could write at whatever time I wanted to, so I could still have my music career. After a year of living here, my music career is finally starting to pick up. I play in a few bars weekly and I am starting to make a name for myself. I think soon I might even be able to leave behind the writing and play music exclusively. |

Melting Snow + No Yard = MUD
Sh*t. There is not too much else to say. I wanted to go for a walk to relax and my toddler and hubby decided to join me. In a matter of half a second my plans went from happy walk to major cleanup…. hence the sh*t.

These are her pants, gloves, boots and coat. This photo does not come close to showing the extent of the muddy mess. I swear.
We had to disrobe my daughter before she could go inside. My husband had to run into the mud to fish her out though before we could do that. Did I mention that she ran into it and SAT DOWN? Yep. In the mud. She SAT IN THE MUD…. and got stuck. My hubby had to retrieve one of her boots that was being sucked down to the depths of the earth after first retrieving the kid.
I am just really glad that I didn’t have to go in after them, because I wasn’t really feeling the idea of wandering out into the mud. They probably would have had a very long wait. Sheesh.
